Web Resources

I have found a few web resources that I plan on using, assuming I ever get shoes and get started.

They have some simple easy to follow training plans and articles for begining runners. I'm going to get the training plans put into my iPod so that if I can get started I'll be ready to go.

Getting Started

For Christmas this year I got an iPod Touch. I mainly got it to replace my PDA I've had for over 3 years now, but I've found some cool Apps that will aid me in my goal to run a marathon before I turn 40. Here's the Apps I got and a little about what each ones does and how I plan on using them for my running.

Lose It! is basically a callorie counter. I enter in my height, weight, weight loss goal, etc. then it tells me how many calories I can have in one day. I log the food I consume and any exercise, this app does the rest by telling me how I'm doing. It should be pretty good.

Then I got an app called Run Mate. This app allows me to create some run programs that will prompt me for different phases of my training.

Now if I could just get started... Maybe in the spring

It has to start somewhere

Today sitting at my family reunion I spent some time talking to my cousin that has taken up triathilons. That's just nuts! Everytime I see someone I know out running I always ask them "Hey, where's the bear?" The ONLY reason to run is from something, such as a bear. Today as I sat looking at my family and their state of obesiety, I decided that I'm tired of being fat and need to make a change in my life.

I'm 36 years old and I've decided that I want to run a marathon before I turn 40. I don't run, I hate running. Even when I was in the Army I hated to run. But I have to do something. Living in Eagle Mountain, Utah there isn't much I can do, but I can run.

I know that to really start running I'm going to need to get some gear and do some research. I'm not sure when I'll start, but I've never been so determined in my life to so something.

My wife thinks I'm nuts.
